A quote from one of the many main actors of the movie Crash Sandra Bullock, “ I’m a true believer in Karma. You get what you give, whether it’s good or bad.” In the movie Crash it gave of many signs of good and bad karma within the actors/actresses. Unfortunately in this film there was more bad vibes given off than good. There were many racial comments made to other people in the film that came back to smack the person right back in the face. Many people do not believe in karma but its there the world just has to notice it before they treat there neighbors, family members and people who can improve there life with disrespect.
Mothers and teachers always taught children when they’re growing up the golden rule. The golden rule means treat others how you would like to be treated. When children are in grade school they are rewarded with candy or other treats when they acting upon different people with respect. As children grow up they start to throw away some of their morals one being respect. Kids began to treat others with disrespect by judging them on their race or religion. Many kids who put up these walls of judgment will not keep quite either. They tend to speak out loud only caring about themselves. That’s when karma comes in full effect when you least expect it. The children who made fun of other races soon will have it turned on them with some sort of punishment if its getting in a car accident to having a love one pass away.
Lets start with the negative parts of the movie Crash. In this movie there was karma all around the air unfortunally, there was more bad than good. Many actors were very racial with one another in this film. Even if they were of a foreign ethnicity they were racial on other foreign ethnicities. Of many examples in this film of bad karma a few stand out to me; one being how the character Peter got shot in the end of the film. In those chaotic two days Peter stole many cars from innocent people, which was the main root of the whole to days’ bad luck. Peter also ran over a China man and just through him in front of a hospital cause the man to almost die. Peter said he would never stick up a man of the same race but the day came and he ran up to a very expensive car imagining the person in the drivers seat to be a white male. As they told the African-American who ended up being Cameron to get out of the car, Cameron fought back. That’s right when his bad karma came into play. The cops showed up to the scene and he ran that night trying to get back to the other side of town. Officer Hansen who was not in uniform picked up Peter and they preceded to have a conversation. Officer Hansen noticed a gun in Peters pocket and that’s when Hansen started to get defensive. Peter started to laugh because they had the similar saint that they carried around and as Peter reached for it in his pocket, Hansen thought he was reaching for his gun and in his defense he shot Peter. That wasn’t the only officer that made a mistake in this film; Officer Ryan also made a regrettable mistake. On the first night Officer Ryan pulled over a colored couple who were obviously doing things they were not supposed to be doing while driving. As he pulled over the Cameron and his wife, he questioned them. Officer Ryan made them step out of the car for suspension of drinking and as Cameron’s’ wife raised with anger the cop threw them both against the car. Officer Ryan began to search Cameron’s wife, going all the way up her dress and preceded to humiliate his wife. Officer Ryan then left the couple, as she cried in the car Officer Ryan drove away. Officer Ryan imaging he would never run into this couple again, to his surprise he was extremely wrong. That next day there was an accident and Officer Ryan was the first one on the scene. He sprinted towards the car that was flipped over; gas was dripping from the car so he as going to have to get the woman out before it exploded. As he entered the car the woman ended up being the Cameron’s wife from the night before. When she saw Officer Ryan she began to scream and try to fight her way away from him. That’s when he had to explain himself and say sorry because if he didn’t get her out soon the car would explode. After he explained that to her she let him help her. When he got out there was not a thank you from the woman, he just knelt on the floor and swallowed his pride.
Negative karma is easier to spot because it stands out more, but there was some positive karma in the film. In this film there is a locksmith who is a Mexican named Daniel and out of all the actors he is the most stereotyped. In one case he was changing the locks at Jean and Rick’s house and Jean made her husband get the locks changed again because he looked like a thug. In that same night he had to change a lock at a Persians grocery store because it had gotten broken in to. When Daniel was changing the locks he noticed that the owner needed a new door. When Daniel tried telling this to the owner, the owner just keep yelling because he barely spoke English. The locksmith became very frustrated and threw the receipt in the garbage. That next morning, Farhad the storeowner came back to see that his whole store was gone. People came in a destroyed the whole thing. Out of anger he dug through the garbage to find the receipt from the lock the night before. With this receipt Farhad jumped in his car and found were the Daniel lived. Daniel the locksmith pulled in to the driveway and the storeowner confronted him with a gun. While Farhad threatened Daniel, Daniels daughter came running outside and as soon as she reached her father Farhad fired the gun. Farhad, and Daniel both thought the bullet hit his daughter, but to both men’s surprise the gun was full with blanks. I believe that is when good karma came in play. Daniel was nice to everyone and he was also not racist while everyone was racist towards him.
Karma is around all the time even if you want it or not. You can be filled with positive thoughts about people, and treat them with respect and more often good karma will come your way. Treat people with disrespect and bad karma will be right there to trip the person who is disrespectful. The movie crash had many examples of karma but these examples were the ones that stuck out to me. In this movie whatever went around comes around, it ended up with every character having some connection with the next, that’s why respect is so important, they could be the person having to do operation on your body.
